THE MOST POWERFUL PRACTITIONER OF PSYCHOKINESIS AND TELEPATHY IN THE WOoOoORLD While Psycho Mantis' particular skillset seems to mostly be "whatever would be the most annoying to deal with from a gameplay perspective," for the sake of consistency, he's variously shown to be able to: read minds — emotions, thoughts, memories, etc. psychically control people temporarily implant false memories and brainwash people create apparitions and illusions teleport, at a fairly close range throw fire around move objects up to the size of giant robots, apparently create psychic barriers hover around like a weird spooky jerk break the fourth wall like it's his job In MGSV, his range is said to be around three miles, and in MGS1, he has an entire base full of soldiers brainwashed and still has time to float around his lushly decorated office yelling about the save files on your PlayStation memory card. Wow! But he's a video game midboss and destined to lose important fights anyway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ In terms of weaknesses to all this bullshit, characters with strong wills or other types of psychic shielding (implants, canonically, but anything goes in a jamjar) can resist what he does, and I'm willing to play pretty fast and loose with this for the sake of not being a complete godmoding asshole here.

The fun part! Anything deeper than a quick read of surface thoughts/emotions will, of course, be handled on a case by case basis and coordinated OOC! MGS deals with some heavy themes (war! child soldiers! torture! human experimentation! et cetera!), and Mantis himself is a pretty unpleasant person. Can Mantis read your MIND and/or FEELINGS?: Yes... he's been trying to convince everyone that psychics are totally a thing and invest in psychic resistance training/psychic gear and stuff. But people were initially reluctant until they saw the floating kid I WONDER WHO THAT WAS.
